stress-released trip to Abu Dhabi

Way back in Kuala Lumpur, i used to have TRAVEL-BUDDY : a group of friends that always accompany me for vacation trip. Yup, there are four of us, love to travel + experiencing new place. we've been to Bali, Singapore, Phuket and Jakarta (in groups), Bangkok and not to forget our beautiful local islands.
Here in Dubai, things changed and i cant join them for trips anymore (they're planning to go to Hong Kong this year, damn it!), so, i join another Travelling group formed by our very own XEDL group called NDD club - stands for Nyah Dari Dubai - what a name.. :P
We've been to Oman for NDD Volume one and for this time around, NDD Volume two headed to Abu Dhabi for a stress-released trip.
Though Abu Dhabi is just nearby (about 1 and half hour journey from dubai), i must say that the trip was good. Dubai and Abu Dhabi located just side by side, yet, there are so much differences between them. Yup, its true, Dubai is hip, hype and happening, but at the same time, Dubai has this 'frantic' feeling, everything in rush, people honk whenever they wanna honk and we can hear this hectic sounds from construction sites almost everywhere. And opposite to Dubai, Abu Dhabi feels calm. Enough said, just browse to our trip photos and judge by yourselves..

we overnite by the beach to count the bright stars and to smell the sea breeze

our professional cameraman: Ad on duty

yeah, they enjoyed the beach very much! (me too..)

very peaceful - ni lah tempat kitorang tukar baju

a very very big palace of the ruler - jadi backdrop saja.. haha

mana nak dapat rainbow kat tengah tengah hari... huh..

opposite to marina mall - skyline of Abu Dhabi city

had our breakfast and window shopping in marina mall (yeah, i know, look like a poser)

abu dhabi mall - window shopping before heading to nearest mosque for friday prayer

me in black - at the center of Abu Dhabi

yes fahimi... we had our breakfast in paris (no wonder najdi gave a supermodel pose at the back there..haha)

our last stop was the Syeikh Zayed mosque - one of the most beautiful mosque i've ever seen (semua poyo bergambar konon2 dalam poster citer HEROES)

all of us except Mr. Ad the photographer

beautiful.. beautiful..

me after maghrib prayer - amazed by the huge chandelier

people said, it took 15 years to finish the construction of the mosque.. is it?

hmm... can i copy this for my project?

along the way, there are several other buildings that catch our eyes and heart (Such Aldar development by the sea - a building that lookalike a standing doughnut etc.). just hoping that someday, malaysia will have beautiful buildings like this.

Till the next NDD trip!

Salam hady,

Same question posted to one of your NDD's member - Romzi..

berkekalan kah ketenangan yang dibawa pulang dari Abu Dhabi tu?

xoxoxo

p/s: by the way.. wishing you all the wishes in this world - semoga menjadi not only "future top architect.. but also the best" dalam berkat..

I dont think so AUH mosque nice architecture. I'm not an Architect but sometime idea Architect ni merepek.

1. Banyak sgt column dalam Prayer Hall. Nampak ruang lagi kecik

2. Wudu' area jauh nak jalan dari Prayer Hall.

3. Infra Works tak siap lagi tapi Masjid dah dibuka. Patut Infra kena siapkan dulu. Traffic very massive specially during Sola' Juma'ah.

4. Interior Design inside Prayer Hall too gaudy and so many Chandelier. For me "Less is more"

5. Very big courtyart for what? Diorang nak suruh org sembahyang tengah panas dengan open area ker..

Sorry to say, as a QS sometime Architect ni lebih mementingkan imiginasi diorang tapi tak fikir user-friendly and environmental. Dont talk about project cost sebab diorang kaya.

Anyway dude, this is just my opinion. Sometime orang yang bukan architect pun ada pandangan dan "taste" mereka tersendiri.

Nice blog and keep in touch

Hi aidid, ni jawapan for u:

1. Banyak sgt column dalam Prayer Hall. Nampak ruang lagi kecik

Hady : to me, takde masalah, becoz although with the columns tu semua, the prayer hall still manage to cater tha capacity (i donno on friday prayer). For me, its better to have an appropriate prayer hall size, tapi fully occupied rather than besar macam masjid duta, tapi kosong dan tak hidup)

2. Wudu' area jauh nak jalan dari Prayer Hall.

Hady : Agreed. By the time dah ambik wuduk, dah masuk rakaat ke dua!

3. Infra Works tak siap lagi tapi Masjid dah dibuka. Patut Infra kena siapkan dulu.

Hady : cant blame architect for this. i will say that must be sebab political reason. say, if His Highness wanted the mosque to be opened, then architect has no say.

4. Interior Design inside Prayer Hall too gaudy and so many Chandelier. For me "Less is more"

Hady : Architecture always subjective. cantik dimata kita, blum tentu di mata org lain. Contradict to u, i luv the interior.

5. Very big courtyart for what? Diorang nak suruh org sembahyang tengah panas dengan open area ker..

Hady : at first i have the same inquiries, what for? tapi lepas pikir kali kedua, its better to have a big courtyard, where people can sit around, gather, and socialize (in an islamic way) and i think, they can use the courtyard during special occasion, say ada nuzul quran celebration ke, just add on khemah will do (rather than having a very very big prayer hall tapi yang solat cuma dua baris macam di masjid duta)

Sorry to say, as a QS sometime Architect ni lebih mementingkan imiginasi diorang tapi tak fikir user-friendly and environmental. Dont talk about project cost sebab diorang kaya.

Hady : sometimes, there are reasons why the building been designed as such a way, sometimes we didnt really see it at first, but of course, Design is always subjective and totally contradict with QS that all about facts.

Anyway, thanks for the opinion, as i think the mosque is beautiful tapi still ada flaw, such:

1. Non muslim boleh masuk ke area courtyard without pakai abaya or jubah. siap ada pakai short!!

2. Too many people masuk ke prayer hall just for ambil gambar, made me think, ini masjid ke museum? adakah tanda tanda akhir zaman bila people buat masjid untuk menunjuk2? hmmm...

Neway Aidid, selamat berkenalan!

i do agree with d architect.
1. architecture is just too subjective,
2. the courtyard can be used for other purposes,
hopefully tok arab tak bukak funfair dekat courtyard tuh
3. masjid sedau menjadi lebih muzium daripada masjid
